Grand Turk is a small island only 7 miles long and just 1.5 mile across at its widest point and is home to approximately 3,000 people living mostly in the historic Cockburn Town.
Grand Turk has a brand new airport which is conveniently located just minutes from the resort. It is an international port of entry to the Turks and Caicos Islands. The airport code for Grand Turk is GDT.
Grand Turk is the capital of The Turks and Caicos and the financial center of the islands. Turks and Caicos Islands comprise two groupings - the Turks Islands and the Caicos Islands, lying at the southern end of the Bahamas chain (575 miles southeast of Miami). The groupings are separated by the Turks Islands Passage, a 22 mile-wide, 7,000' deep-water channel. Only eight of TCI 30 islands are inhabited.
Grand Turk's main attraction is diving with many dive operators and schools, catering for novice snorkels to experienced divers. The Grand Turk Wall is rated among the top diving sites in the world.
